Never, ever, have we had a better experience. There are some negatives; therefore,
we ask you to read the complete review. Technical skill: Our project was around
PHP/MYSQL/Javascript so we can’t vouch for other technologies. Based on that, these
guys were exceptional in competency of the technical knowledge in hand. If you have
a PHP project then these guys are definitely recommended, no doubt about it. I wish
though they had provided more comments within their code – which we will ask them
to do soon. In addition, certain HTML guidelines were not followed – nothing major
but it was corrected when we pointed it out. Our ideas where complex in nature and
they did a very good job in making them a reality. Communication: This is an area
for improvement. I wish they provided a minimum of two progress notes per week.
However, they did provided weekly Friday updates which was acceptable. In addition,
when bugs were pointed out they addressed them instantly, a major plus point. An
area of improvement would be to have a bug tracking system. They did not have one
and we had to pay out of our pockets for a hosted solution of our choice. Not a
big deal for us but I suggest they provide this to their clients. Creativity: Well,
in the programming world this option should not be present. Coders will be lamented
if they deviate from the customer requirements so really the creativity would depend
on the customer providing the specs to the developer. Overall, I wish they did provide
or ask questions when they felt they might be holes in the process like new user
signing up and we forget to mention to send a confirmation email etc. They did address
some of them by integrating the solution itself which was great but some of them
we had to test and then provide feedback to enhance the process that “we” might
have missed. Again – not their fault but would have liked them to point this out
as consultants are more experienced than us business folks. Timeliness: Very timely,
though we did not have any deadlines per se, we got updates every Friday and final
product in 2 weeks which was a reasonable turnaround. Any fixes we brought to their
attention were immediately fixed. I would not change a thing in their timeliness.
Overall a great experience. We just completed phase 1 of the project and are entering
phase 2. We are anticipating at least 5 phases and would like to stay with the same
vendor throughout the process. We might even have a maintenance contract in the
future.
